Najada Myrto, History, Sociology & Politics
Najada Myrto is a passionate educator with a robust academic background in Linguistics and Cultural Mediation. She earned her Master’s degree in Cross-Cultural and Linguistic Mediation from the University of Salento in Italy and specializes in supporting students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those for whom English is an additional language. Her goal is to empower these learners to successfully navigate their academic paths with confidence and skill.
Najada teaches GCSE and A-level courses with a focus on History, Sociology, and Politics. Her instructional approach prioritizes critical thinking and active engagement, cultivating an inclusive classroom atmosphere that values diversity and promotes intercultural dialogue among students.
Her academic endeavors are complemented by her research, which includes postgraduate studies examining the influence of Russian Socialist Realism on Albanian literature. Najada has collaborated with organizations such as CIES in Rome, enhancing her practical knowledge in cultural mediation. As a published author, she has contributed to significant works, including “An Introduction to Sociology,” co-authored with the University of Salento and the University of Tirana, as well as “Albania, Horizon of Salento.”
In addition to her academic work, Najada actively mentors and interprets for refugees in Oxford, helping to bridge linguistic and cultural divides. This hands-on experience informs her teaching philosophy, allowing her to incorporate real-world contexts that enrich her students’ learning experiences. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys yoga, music, modern art, and literature.
